When is eco-friendly not green? When it describes the California Governor’s debate.
When Dominican University first offered to host the October 12th Governor’s debate, they positioned it as a “green” event, promising to devote serious attention to its ecological footprint. Then supporters of Laura Wells, the Green Party candidate for Governor, started making a stink about her exclusion.
Suddenly the term “green” was dropped from event descriptions in favor of “eco-friendly”. See for yourself. Dominican University has purged the term “green” from its vocabulary.
While we congratulate Dominican University for its commitment to hosting an event with a small ecological footprint, we wish it showed the same commitment to democracy.
